This is who we are!

We secure land, empower communities.

Who We Are

Together with our partners, we are securing land, restoring hope, and empowering communities for a sustainable future

Partnering to build a world where everyone enjoys secure land rights and equitable access to resources—especially the poor and marginalized.

Mansa District Land Alliance (MDLA) was established in 2006 as a network of Non- Governmental Organisations advocating for just land policies, laws and administrative systems that take into account the interest of all people of Zambia, especially the poor. It was registered in Zambia on 3rd February 2011 under the Societies Act, Chapter 119 of the Laws of Zambia, Registration Number ORS/102/46/340.

Our Approach

Land rights for all, secured.

MDLA has gained experience in promoting land tenure security, forest restoration and livelihoods promotion. The organization has also been instrumental in promoting environmental stewardship among the rural communities. This has involved promoting conservation, afforestation, land use planning, natural regeneration as well as sustainable utilization of natural resources. Ongoing projects include land rights and access to justice, Community Forest Management, Natural Forestry Regeneration, Water conservation and tree planting. This has resulted in most rural communities in the Luapula landscape to understand how biological and ecological systems can remain diverse and productive over time.

MDLA works with local and international cooperating partners who provide both financial and technical support towards its work. MDLA’s work is designed to follow a two-track approach that aims on the one hand to improve community access, empowerment and participation in decision making at local level, and, on the other hand, to guarantee better policy engagement with decision makers in reforming land administration to enhance land tenure security and resource rights of vulnerable men and women in society.
