this is what we do!
Securing land. Protecting nature. Empowering communities.
What We Do
01.
— Land Tenure Security
Advocates for improved land rights and security of tenure for vulnerable groups (especially women and small-scale farmers). Works to harmonize customary and statutory land administration systems.
02.
— Environmental Stewardship & Natural Resource Management
Promotes forest restoration, conservation, afforestation, and sustainable land use. Facilitates Community Forest Management and climate-smart agriculture.
03.
— Livelihood and Economic Development
Supports climate-resilient agriculture, income-generating activities (e.g., beekeeping, horticulture), and savings groups.
04.
— Governance, Advocacy, and Policy Engagement
Empowers communities to engage with government and traditional leaders. Implements civic education and transparency projects to improve accountability in public service delivery.
05.
— Climate Change Adaptation
MDLA supports communities in adopting climate-smart agriculture, water conservation methods, and alternative livelihoods to reduce dependence on climate-sensitive practices like rain-fed farming.
06.
— Gender Equality in Land and Resource Access
A major focus is on ensuring women’s land rights, increasing their involvement in land administration, and advocating for the harmonization of gender-sensitive policies across both customary and statutory systems.
